In addition to serving as the Secretary and VP of Risk Management of

PhiDE, Soumya is currently the Director of Communications for GlobeMed at Cornell and a Teaching Assistant for biochemistry. In the past, she has been a Co-Webmaster for PhiDE, and the Head of Finance for Cornell’s Big Red Thon Dance Marathon benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which PhiDE has co-sponsored the past two years. Last summer, she was a research assistant at the Diabetes-Endocrinology Center of Western New York. In her free time on campus, Soumya enjoys participating in events hosted by several of Cornell’s South Asian organizations and cooking new food recipes. During breaks back home, she enjoys shadowing in clinics and interacting with patients.

 

Through PhiDE, Soumya has found a collaborative and supportive network of other pre-medical students who have been a great source of guidance with navigating all things from studying tips to the medical school application process. Having learned so much through the organization, Soumya hopes to be able to help others while in her executive board position, so that they may have the same opportunities as PhiDE has opened for her. Aside from being a mentor for others in the club, she is excited to collaborate with her fellow officers and help PhiDE improve as a whole so that the organization may remain a useful resource for all her brothers.
